Why is this site here?

Around the turn of the century, during warm summers I was in the habit of frequenting car boot sales. One man's junk is another man's treasure, and it was amazing what relics could be uncovered - as the 90s kids grew up and moved away, rare whites of SMD #3 and limited pressings of old-skool anthems turned up with surprising regularity.

It was at one such Mad Mile that I spied a pile of 3 or 4 TDK cassettes labelled RAVE IN ARMS. Maybe it was the thick permanent marker that caught the eye, but further inspection revealed carefully assembled covers with Sellotape and Pritt-Stick, hand-drawn cassette inlays and bespoke labels - I'd never encountered anything this deeply creative before.

Rave In Arms Volume I was the most amazing thing I have ever heard.

...but no-one knows anything about it, or who Rave In Arms even were. Enquiring about the origin produced a shrug and "clearing out a friend's garage, mate." These amazing productions deserve more - they are a missing piece of rave history.

raveinarms.co.uk exists to spread the word about Rave In Arms and to try and piece together the mystery behind them.

What are they doing now? Have they left it all behind, or are they twiddling the knobs and faders behind some of the productions toppings the charts in the Internet age? I, for one, wouldn't be surprised...
